Disability Rights Nebraska has been selected for their dedicated advocacy on behalf of Nebraskans with disabilities. Through determined and strategic efforts, the DRNE team has helped bring to light two major systemic civil rights violations in Nebraska—both now the focus of action by the U.S. Department of Justice. The first involves the unnecessary segregation of individuals with serious mental illness, and the second concerns discriminatory practices against deaf and hard of hearing students in Lincoln Public Schools.
