Election Authorities

While all Americans rely on the expertise of our election authorities to administer fair, accessible, and secure elections across the nation, elections officials are increasingly expected to demonstrate expertise in a number of new and complex areas, including securities, technology, and access/usability.

The Protection & Advocacy Network (P&As) are mandated by the Help American Vote Act (HAVA) to "ensure the full participation in the electoral process for individuals with disabilities, including registering to vote, casting a vote and accessing polling places." The P&As' unique role under HAVA allows them lend their expertise in access for voters with disabilities to election officials, as we work collaboratively to comply with HAVA and increase access to a private and independent ballot for all.
