The National Disability Rights Network believes in the right of all students, including those with disabilities, to an equitable and appropriate education in a safe environment, based on access to the general education curriculum.  NDRN seeks to accomplish this goal through federal policy work and through the Protection and Advocacy Network, who enforce our nation's education laws on the state level.

NDRN letter of opposition to New York State Education Department’s proposed waiver request regarding students with disabilities in the state’s ESSA State Plan.

NDRN calls upon the New York State Education Department to withdraw its proposed waiver request regarding students with disabilities in the state’s proposed plan to implement the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) because its inclusion violates federal law.

NDRN and the ACLU both expressed concern that while the Department agreed to study the issue, it did not make the changes necessary to begin data collection on the experiences of students in non-public schools.

Coalition letter to Secretary DeVos in Support of Department of Education Title IX Guidance on Sex Discrimination  

NDRN joined 39 other organizations on a letter to Secretary DeVos in support of existing U.S. Department of Education policy guidance clarifying schools’ responsibility to prevent and address sex discrimination under Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972.
