WASHINGTON – In response to the Senate’s newly released version of the Better Care Reconciliation Act (BCRA), NDRN Executive Director, Curt Decker made the following statement:

“It is imperative that the public not be misled by the deceptive improvements that are being touted in this new version of the Better Care Reconciliation Act. After careful review, we have found that some of the changes actually make things worse for people with disabilities.

“The minor changes to the original legislation are merely a cover up for the horrendous impacts that Medicaid cuts and caps contained in this legislation will have for people with disabilities.

“Ultimately, this legislation will mean millions of people with disabilities losing life-saving insurance coverage, and millions more either not being able to afford adequate insurance or only being able to afford insurance that provides terrible coverage.

“NDRN will oppose the BCRA as it is currently written and calls upon Senators to vote against this mean spirited legislation.”
