Disability Law Center (MDLC), a private, nonprofit organization, is the

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Executive
Assistant is responsible to the Executive Director for providing secretarial
and clerical assistance to the Executive Director; the Directors of Finance
& Administration, Legal Advocacy, Litigation, and Public Policy; and the
Communications Supervisor. This is a
part-time position, work days and hours to be negotiated.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1.
Serve
as general support to senior staff.
Prioritize and coordinate competing tasks and demands.
2.
Assist
with data entry, record keeping and paperwork processing.
3.
Assist
in preparation and management of legal and other documents.
4.
Assist
in the preparation of correspondence, reports and other materials.
5.
Conduct
research assignments.
6.
Coordinate
and schedule meetings and teleconferences.
7.
Maintain
files and respond to requests for information.
8.
Interact
appropriately with MDLC clients, colleagues and others.
9.
Know and follow office policies and
procedures.
10. Meet all internal and external deadlines.
11.
Perform
related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1.
Education
equivalent to completion of an Associate’s degree or twelfth grade supplemented
by specialized secretarial or word processing training (which may include
on-the-job training at a previous employment position).
2.
Computer literacy and proficiency; strong word processing skills, e.g. creating
and formatting documents using Microsoft Word.
3.
Command of the English language including
correct punctuation, spelling, grammar and sentence structure. Excellent editing and proofreading skills.
4.
Ability to self-direct work activities,
successfully manage multiple
work priorities and work under deadlines with speed and accuracy.
5.
Ability
to comprehend and carry out complex oral and written instructions.
6.
Ability
to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment.
7.
Ability to establish and maintain
effective working relationships, including the ability to handle situations
patiently and tactfully.
8.
Strong interpersonal, customer service
and telephone skills.
9.
Strong commitment to advancing the rights of persons
with disabilities.
10.
Experience working with and/or
sensitivity to persons with disabilities and from multi-ethnic communities.
OTHER
HELPFUL QUALIFICATIONS
1.
Ability to communicate in ASL, Spanish or another
non-English language.
2.
Paid
or volunteer experience working directly with MDLC client populations.
3.
Experience
working in a law office, agency that provides services to people with
disabilities or other social service/nonprofit environment.
4.
Life experience with disability.
