    Assistive Technology and Reasonable Accommodation

    Assistive Technology (AT) Collaborative
    Funded by the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Disability and Employment Policy, the AT Collaborative brought together national and state level organizations to generate ideas for enhancing the employment of individuals with disabilities through assistive technology.

    Computer/Electronic Accommodations Program
    Information on assistive technology and services for individuals with disabilities. The program is operated by the U.S. Department of Defense, but reference information is available to everyone.

    Job Accommodation Network (JAN)
    Provides a wealth of information on reasonable accommodation solutions on the job for individuals with disabilities, funded by the U.S. Department of Labor.

    Searchable On-Line Accommodation Resource (SOAR)
    Information on possible accommodations for a range of disabilities, maintained by the Job Accommodation Network (JAN).

    Statewide AT Act Programs
    Funded under the Assistive Technology Act, the statewide AT Act programs provide various services on assistive technology to individuals with disabilities. For additional information on how the statewide AT Act programs can assist, see the Association of Assistive Technology Act Programs and the National Assistive Technology Technical Assistance Partnership web-pages, as well as the AT Collaborative webpage.

    Job Assessment and Job Placement Resources

    Career One-Stop Service Centers
    Information on job searching, employment trends, training and education, and other resources in preparing for and finding employment. Established through the Workforce Investment Act.

    EARN Works
    Resources and consulting services for employers to support the recruitment and hiring of individuals with disabilities.

    Local Career One-Stop Service Center Locator
    Allows user to locate their local one-stop career center for information, assistance, and some services in preparing for and locating jobs in the local community.

    Occupational Information Network (O*Net)
    Information on a wide-range of jobs and job requirements maintained by the U.S. Department of Labor. Provides vital information to aid in resolving disputes involving a vocational rehabilitation employment goal for an Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE).

    Partners in Employment for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities
    A free training program on career exploration and job searching skills designed specially for individuals with development disabilities. The information may be helpful for resolving disputes involving a vocational rehabilitation employment goal.

    Self-Employment Technical Assistance, Resources, and Training for Individuals with Disabilities (START-UP / USA)
    Provides technical assistance and resources for individuals with disabilities interested in self-employment. The website, funded by the U.S. Department of Labor, includes specific questions and answers about self-employment supported by VR agencies under the Rehabilitation Act.

    Veterans

    Department of Veterans Affairs - Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Program
    Information on the vocational rehabilitation program for veterans who qualify for Veterans Administration benefits.
