NDRN, New Venture Fund Partner to Address Transition  

On July 13, NDRN brought together a diverse group of individuals with an interest in health equity, education or employment for people with disabilities to articulate barriers to successful transition outcomes, identify promising strategies to overcome those barriers and develop concrete recommendations to improve transition outcomes and health equity. The following documents represent the findings and recommendations as well as five Stories of Successful Impact we identified. The meeting and the work leading up to it was sponsored by the New Venture Fund with support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

NDRN Attorney Appointed to ESSA Rulemaking Committee

NDRN is thrilled to announce that Senior Staff Attorney Ronald M. Hager will serve on the Department of Education's Negotiated Rulemaking Committee for the Every Student Succeeds Act. Ron has nearly 40 years of experience in disability and education law, and is recognized nationally as an expert in the legal aspects of education. On the committee, Ron will serve as a voting member on behalf of the Civil Rights Community. He is joined in this capacity by Delia Pompa, Migration Policy Institute; Liz King, The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights; and Janel George, NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund.

Handcuffed eight year old sparks renewed call for Keeping all Students Safe Act.

In light of the recent heartbreaking video showing a Kentucky deputyhandcuffing an eight year old boy who is 3 ½ feet tall and 52 pounds with Attention Deficit Hyper Activity Disorder (ADHD) behind his back on his biceps because his wrists were too small for the handcuffs, the National Disability Rights Network (NDRN) urges you to cosponsor and support passage of H.R. 927, the Keeping All Students Safe Act.
