Recreation Issues Not Addressed in the Proposed Regulations.
1. Reservation of accessible boat slips On page 34469 of the NPRM for title II, it states…“ So, for example, commenters asked the Department to focus on such issues as ticketing in assembly areas and reservations of boat slips… All of the issues raised in the public comments are addressed, in turn, in this NPRM or in the NPRM for title III.”
Comment:There is no further guidance on this issue in the Department’s proposals. Marina operators have requested guidance, and at the very minimum should be directed to follow the process in place for transient lodging. It shouldn’t be left up to the operator to create a policy.
2. Aquatic chairs at swimming pools Where a sloped entry has been provided, an aquatic chair is necessary. People with disabilities should not be encouraged to take their everyday wheelchair into the water.
